There is good news for former and current smokers. New Swedish research suggests that certain chronic conditions can be halted, or at least slowed, by eating fruits and vegetables. Grandma always said, “Be sure to eat your greens.” And that “apple a day” think is closer to being proven as a law of nature.
Although it is best that people not smoke, it is refreshing to know scientifically why some people live into 80s and 90s and other people die early from smoking. This is not to say that fruits and vegetables are a panacea. But, if you can not find a way to quit smoking, maybe you can find a way to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables.
